Dr Amir Shareghi Najar
Data Scientist & Researcher
Dr Amir Shareghi Najar is a respected data scientist and an expert in data mining and user modelling. He has many years of experience in software development, data mining, data analysis and research. Dr Shareghi is a member of Australian Computer Society (ACS), Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE), Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED), and Intelligent Computer Tutoring Group (ICTG).
Since 2011, Dr Shareghi enhanced, designed and developed several expert systems. His primary expertise is in implementing rule-based systems in domains such as education and finance. He has created domain models in well-defined areas such as mathematics and ill-defined areas such as evaluating statement of advice.
Dr Shareghi's research interest is in the field of Intelligent Tutoring Systems and constraints-based modelling. Research shows that novices and advanced students learn differently from various learning tasks such as solving problems or studying worked-out examples. Dr Shareghi proposed adaptive models that recommend appropriate learning tasks for students based on their knowledge. At MwalimuPlus, his team implemented this model in industrial scale. Mwalimuplus is an e-Tutor that provides adaptive support for students in Africa. The system currently contains more than 25,000 questions created and tested by more than 20 human-expert teachers.
Co-Funder and Technical Lead
Mwalimuplus is an Intelligent e-Tutoring solution for students, parents and teachers. The system is designed to improve the learning-teaching process and has a significant amount of learning materials and supports for students to be able to solve math questions with minimum help. At this point, MwalimuPlus only is available for Kenyan students.
Lead Data Scientist
TIQK is Real-Time Automated Compliance Platform. The system uses complex Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning algorithms to help the financial services industry in providing better quality services. Amir is the designer of project MIRA; an intelligent feature of TIQK that provides significant insight about the statement of advice.
Co-Funder and regional marketing lead
Apt Tec assists businesses with outsourcing IT services while continually, the quality is checked by IT project managers locally. Currently, Apt Tec provides services in Web Design, Mobile App and Data Analysis.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) , Computer Science ( Artificial Intelligence )2011 - 2014
My doctoral project focused upon benefits of using worked-examples in Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs). ITSs provide multiple levels of assistance to students, adaptive feedback being one of them. The goal of my PhD research was to investigate using worked-examples in constraint-based tutors by adding examples into SQL-Tutor. SQL-Tutor is a constraint-based tutor that teaches the Structured Query Language (SQL). Students with different prior knowledge benefit differently from studying examples; thus, another goal of the research was to propose an adaptive model that considers the student’s prior knowledge for providing worked examples.

Master's degree , Computer Science (Management Information System)2007 - 2009
Research on the application of Service Oriented Architecture in e-complaint systems
Involved in “Simulation of High Performance Computer Architecture” project, and duties included C++ programming and using SIMICS for simulation.
Azad University Central Tehran Branch
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) , Computer Engineering1999 - 2003
In his B.Sc project, Amir enhanced the performance of line detector robots by developing a new approach to speed up the communication between the infrared sensors and step motors. The courses focused on hardware engineering and electronic. Amir studied software engineering courses in his own time to satisfy his eager to learn.
